So I've lain down the main features now. This is how far I am with Lou's tutorial.
The interesting things to note so far are:
- I'm quite impressed with it so far! I still hope that in a few months I will have improved so much that I look back on this and cringe with embaressment, but for the moment I think I deserve some sort of 'Best New Artist' award.
- The nose and mouth are mainly done using the tortillion stick, then some of the darker bits can be drawn in with pencil and re-smudged in.
- Smudging is key!
- The eyes are drawn in, then smudged then re-drawn.
