It seems that hair tends to be a bit of a problem area with portraits. I can see why. It is essential to the whole structure of the head, but it is also completely mental. It flies about and is made up of millions of teeny tiny strands.

In most ways, I hate this picture. It is tacky and far too pretty-pretty for my tastes, but I do love how the hair looks in it. It's definitely the best part of the picture (by far).
As usual, there are loads of videos up on YouTube about the subject of drawing realistic hair.

I don't have a mirror, or very inspiring hair, so I have found a few images of hair to practice with. After my experience with Al and his darker than dark hair, I thought it might be best to try to tackle blonde hair first.
